“The Driftwood Clan”
Our Visitor Community

The Driftwood Clan is comprised of individuals and groups
who visit our shores for various reasons. These are:
EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES
The Tribe at The CAPULANA BAY Eco-Village offers experiential learning opportunities within a
permaculture community for travellers looking for an adventure off the beaten track.
Those interested experience a generative lifestyle focused on
community living and ecological health.
Our centre nourishes integral, socially responsible eco-tourism through supporting
The CAPULANA BAY Eco-Village and giving our visitors a chance
to get hands-on knowledge of rural sustainability.
A CAPULANA BAY island experience can be as interactive
or restful as the visitor would like.
They can get involved in homesteading projects, explore the local area, meet neighbours,
join in on our tribal meals, or simply relax and soak up the beautiful vistas.
They volunteer with us and save money on their accommodations.
They contribute work hours and learn skills in natural building, permaculture and organic farming.
Some join our Tribe and pledge 3 months on the farm.
They learn what it's really like to live in an intentional community.

CONTRACTORS & LABOURERS
From time to time, The CAPULANA BAY Eco-Village & Tribe require the services of various contractors and labourers for specialised work beyond our skills or capacity.
These individuals spend time at Tribal and our amongst our Tribe members.

VIPASSANA MEDITATION COURSES
Some of our visitors are the students who have chosen to attend one of our scheduled Vipassana meditation courses which are on offer throughout the year.
Vipassana means "to see things as they really are".
It is a process of self-purification by self-observation.
It is an ancient technique from India, which was originally taught by the Buddha.
The teaching is universal and not connected to any religious organisation
and can be practised by anyone without conflict with existing religious beliefs or absence of beliefs.
For those who are not familiar with Vipassana Meditation
we recommend visiting the International Vipassana Website
for an introduction.
Vipassana meditation is taught during ten-day residential courses.
This period has been found to be the minimum necessary for new students to
understand the technique and its benefits through their own experience.

THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY
And finally, there are our visitors who come to spend some quality time at our
highly personalised and exclusive beach lodge; The CAPULANA BAY Island Hideaway.

Whether for a few days or for a few months ... for learning, work or simply pleasure ...
the visitor to Capulana Bay takes away far more than they expected and in return,
leaves behind a little of themselves with us.
The Tribe acknowledges that it grows from their time with us.
For this reason they become members of The Driftwood Clan automatically
and their names are recorded for posterity in the Honour Roll of the Clan.
