BEACH COMBING
The beaches on our Island and beaches on adjacent islands — some of which
you can sail to — are soft, fine sand that remains cool in the tropic sun
and often has a colour cast from the volcanic rock formations.
One will find many varieties of shells, coral, and driftwood on the sandy beaches,
and starfish and shellfish in the tidal pools, lagoons and on the rocks.
SEAFOOD BARBEQUES
There is nothing quite like a private, seafood barbeque for two in the warm evening breeze.
A fish hooked in the afternoon grilled to perfection over flickering coals, accompanied by
a bottle of good wine, piping hot bread and a garden-fresh salad.
BIRD WATCHING
Sea birds abound all along the coast of CAPULANA BAY however, one can also
head off in search of the more colourful jungle birds.
Each morning, the calls from these delightful residents greet the new day.
There are over 850 indigenous bird species that we are sure will make your heart soar.
DEEP SEA FISHING
THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY provides fishing boats, tackle and experienced crew
so that the guest is able to land one of the many Pacific billfish such as;
Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, and Striped Marlin.
Guests can also try their luck with Amberjack, Snapper, Grouper, Pompano,
Snook, Wahoo, Rainbow Runner, Jacks, Mackerel, Ladyfish, Tuna, Houndfish, Bonitos, and Shark.
This area holds many world records in deep-sea sport fishing, and
is considered the best in the world.
JUNGLE EXPERIENCE
Our Island is covered with lush, tropical jungle and there are excursions
available for the adventuresome. We also offer trips to the mainland.
PHOTOGRAPHY
Readily available subjects include the Panama Canal, Old Panama, Casco Viejo,
local indigenous culture, lush flora, tropical sunsets, your prize deep sea catch,
beautiful birds, underwater shots of fish and coral reefs, all made easy by
the clear blue skies and crystal clear waters at this island paradise.
Monkeys, tapirs, puma, jaguar, peccary, deer, wild pig, ocelots, agouti, paca,
armadillos, anteaters and sloths are found on the mainland and some of the
adjacent islands, and trips are arranged upon request.
PICNIC BASKETS

guests to enjoy as they explore the adjacent islands or as they sail the blue waters
of the Gulf of Panama.
REEF DIVING
THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY is a paradise-come-true for those who enjoy
the unforgettable experience of scuba diving in clear blue water.
Imagine diving amid reefs where tropical fish dart about with fleeting turtles,
lobsters, and crabs. Guests may explore the caves or spear a fish for dinner.

SAILING
THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAYwill provide the opportunity to sail boats from 14 ft. day-sailers to Hobie Cats. Within 15 miles of THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY there are many beautiful islands.
SHELL COLLECTING
One can stroll along the quiet beaches near THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY or
on one of the many other islands and find an array of seashells in sizes and colors
that are indescribable. Add a facemask and you can peer into the shallow water in the
rock pools at the edge of the beach and find even larger and more beautiful shells.
WHALE WATCHING
There are dolphins and whales in the waters surrounding CAPULANA BAY.
In fact, this is the place where the whales come to mate and care for their young.
There is some really good whale watching at certain times of the year.
SNORKELLING
The dive shop at THE CAPULANA BAY ISLAND HIDEAWAY provides guests with an assortment
of snorkeling gear. Even the not so good swimmer, is able to be a good snorkeler.
Daily lessons for beginners will be offered and we will gladly show the more adventurous
where the best areas are for shallow dives or underwater photography.
