Why You Should Move to Panama Right Now!

Panama typically ranks amongst the top favourite destinations for expats

– and one of the best places to retire.

With a tropical climate, an advantageous tax system,

a vibrant capital and an eccentric culinary scene,

it is seen by many as a land of opportunities.

Here are SOME reasons why you should move to Panama right now.

1.    A MORE STABLE ECONOMY

In 2016, Panama saw its GDP rise 6.57 percent, according to Trading Economics.

The predictions for 2017, however, are much higher, at a little more than 6 percent.

The International Monetary Fund is even more optimistic, calculating this year’s GDP

growth at 6.9 percent, the highest in the whole of Latin America.

According to BBVA Research, the main driver of the economy

will be investment, together with private consumption prompted by

an all-time low unemployment, which was 2.9 percent, the lowest in the region.

2.    NEW ADVENTURES

Get away from the same old, same old.

Panama is appealing because it is a small country with so much diversity.

You can be at the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, and Caribbean Sea all in the same day

….without getting on an airplane.

If you time it right, you could drive to Costa Rica the same day too!

3.    THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF ISLANDS TO EXPLORE

Panama’s peculiar geography includes some stunning archipelagos

made up of hundreds of islands, many of which are still unexplored.

The most famous ones on the Pacific Coast are the Pearl Islands,

whereas the Caribbean is home to the San Blas archipelago and Bocas del Toro,

which respectively rank high amongst the most beautiful beaches

and the best places to surf in the world.

4.   PANAMA IS REGARDED AS THE SAFEST COUNTRY IN LATIN AMERICA

With a stable government and a small population,

Panama is considered to be the safest country of Latin America.

Because of the Canal and the tax jurisdiction,

there is an international interest in preserving

a safe environment for investment

across the Republic of Panama.

5.    PANAMA IS THE LAND OF OPPORTUNITY

Panama is a stable country that attracts foreign investors.

With a growing expat population and increasing developments in real estate,

banking and tech, it offers endless opportunities to entrepreneurs

who are willing to bring innovation in business, creativity and hospitality.

Many of the conveniences you are familiar with in your country may not exist in Panama …

that spells opportunity to provide that product or service

to a brand new audience in Panama.

6.    IT IS STRATEGICALLY LOCATED BETWEEN NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICA

Panama is a great hub to conduct international business and also a great base for travel.

Less than a two-hour flight from Miami, one hour from Bogotá,

and three hours from Mexico City, it is strategically located

at the crossroads of two continents and two oceans in a way

that grants great access to a huge and prosperous region.

7.    AVOID GROWING RACIAL/RELIGIOUS CONFLICTS

Apparently this is a real problem in many countries.

Luckily, in Panama everyone just gets along regardless of race or religion.

For hundreds of years, people from all over the world have been moving to Panama.

Originally it was to help build the Panama Canal.

Now it it for the tremendous opportunities available in Panama.

8.    IT IS HOME TO SOME EXOTIC AND ECITING WILDLIFE

As a biological corridor between North and South America,

Panama is a a tropical paradise with a burgeoning flora and fauna.

Spotting wildlife is one of the top things to do in Panama.

Go to Panama and you’ll discover animal species that don’t exist anywhere else,

including whales, jaguars, butterflies, eagles and golden frogs.

9.    YOU CAN TAKE AMAZING WEEKEND GETAWAYS

It is not a lie that the best of Panama is found outside of Panama City.

That is not to say that the capital is not an exciting, vibrant city. but

with mountains, desert islands, Caribbean beaches and rainforest galore,

living in Panama means going on amazing weekend trips,

over and over again.

10.    PANAMA IS A NATURAL SANCTUARY MADE UP OF RAW BEAUTY

In Panama you will find both Pacific and Caribbean beaches,

cloud forests in the highlands, a volcano, mountain vegetation on the highest summits,

lakes, rivers, mangroves, and thousands of islands.

With such biodiversity, the country is a unique and largely unspoiled

natural sanctuary that you can only discover little by little.

11.    THE PANAMANIAN MINDSET

In a recent Gallup survey , Panama ranked number 1 as the happiest country in the world.

And the race wasn’t even close, with Panama scoring 17 points more

(on a scale of 100) than Costa Rica, which ranked 2nd.

So what makes Panamanians so happy?

In my experience here, I would chalk it up to Panamanian’s attitude

and general outlook on life. Panamanians don’t take themselves or life too seriously.

The little stuff that drives the rest of the world crazy, such as punctuality, deadlines,

when things don’t go exactly as planned, etc, they just choose not to let get to them.

This can be frustrating for some expats who are not used

to the slower speed of life this causes, but if you can embrace it,

it makes for a much more peaceful and relaxing existence.

People also tend to spend more time celebrating the good,

and not focusing on the bad.

As the frequent fireworks displays will show you,

Panamanians are always celebrating something.

Even those who are struggling in parts of their lives

seem to always keep a positive outlook, and always try to stay smiling.

There’s a lot the rest of the world could learn from Panama’s happiness,

and it’s infectious nature is one of the reasons we love living in this country.

12.    EXPERIENCE A LESS STRESSFUL AND HEALTHY WAY OF LIFE

Tranquilo!  This is a combination of all 12 reasons rolled in to one.

By removing the stress of high costs of living, economic instability,

political conflict, racial conflict, government regulations, extreme weather, etc. …

combined with more adventure and opportunity…

you can live a better quality of life in Panama with less stress.

Combine all of this with an abundance of fresh vegetables and fish year round and you can have a more healthy life style in Panama.
